Priced quite low, but the world is probably better off with this one as an organ donor.

after you take care of the brakes, would it qualify for a LS swap?

That sounds like a great idea. I’m not a huge fan of LS swaps because they seem so, well, common, but I think this is a perfect candidate. After all, it’s just replacing one GM V8 for another one, amirite?

i believe you are correct, sir.

Rust? How low is quite low?

I think it had a price of $1,299. I didn’t look at it long enough to check for rust. The interior was partially disassembled; I’m assuming someone started taking it apart to fix an HVAC or electrical problem, and once the cost was discussed they decided to dump it.

It could be worth the headache for three digits (like $400).

Discos for $1000 or less pop up often around here. There’s always a reason and the ads almost always include the phrase “just want it gone”.
No brakes whatsoever is refreshingly direct. My favorite is when they claim it has a “lifter tap”.

It is not even remotely that easy. The flywheel for an LS is as large as the bellhousing on the disco trans. I’ve done a lot of research in this topic and know discos better than I know Mercedes built before 1994. The general consensus and most common practice is to install with a GM trans and either get a custom built transfer case and driveshafts or a massive adapter between the trans and transfer case with custom driveshafts. Then there is the issue of fitment...

Being a British vehicle I would expect extra challenges. My comment was not to imply that it would be easy, just a little history on the Buick 215.

Gotcha. People throw the idea around all the time thinking it would be easy, so at this point I naturally assume.

And that reminds me of an ad from 20+ years ago that I still have laying around somewhere: “ 1976 Audi Fox. Doesn’t run, don’t know why. Get it away from me, please ”. Having owned the VW version of the same car I can completely understand.

Dang! It wasn’t the 70s version but when I was In High School (1990ish) I wanted a VW Fox 2 door wagon pretty badly.
They were advertising them super cheap at the time too. Oddly, I never saw one on the road at the time or in the old Tradin Times a few years later used (and I bought the Times like it was a religion).
